Dave and I went for a long walk through the cherry blossoms this morning before work. We did this last year during peak bloom and enjoyed it so much we decided to make it a tradition. The cherry blossoms really do live up to all of hype – the pink trees truly are breathtaking. We walked through the National Mall at golden hour and sipped coffee as we strolled through the flowers. I think this may be one of the best ways to start a day. I often hear people say that they wish the cherry blossoms would last longer, but I think the fact that they only last for a few days is part of their magic. We may just have to go a head and go tomorrow morning too…
There were people all over the place. Painting, taking photos, getting engagement photos taken, etc.
DC friends – Go see the cherry blossoms over the next few days! Yes, the crowds are a little crazy, but it’s so worth it!
PS – I might have dropped my lens cap into the Tidal Basin while shooting these photos. Dave might have just walked away from me. A tourist might have snapped a branch off a small tree to fish it out for me. Dave might have come around and eventually laid on his stomach to fish out said lens cap. Whoops.
These are fantastic shots! Really, really lovely. Love the reflections. So glad you got your lens cap back! Thank you for sharing with Little Things Thursday today! These are a treat!
Thanks for hosting, Kim! I am also very glad for the tourist and my husband for fishing my lens cap out of the water 🙂 The cherry blossoms are such a treat!
Gorgeous!
Thanks Alison. It’s one of my favorite weeks of the year!
This is making me homesick, I’m from DC and miss the cherry blossoms. Beautiful pictures though! I buy lens caps in bulk now. I’m so bad at losing them.
I was actually doing pretty well with lens caps until today! The lens is only a few weeks old too – whoops! DC misses you too!
hahahaha I can see all of this playing out. It would happen to you! (lens cap scenario)
haha I know. River water just adds character to the new lens right?
Pretty! I LOVE the scene beyond the cherry blossoms! we don’t get that here in Korea. It’s all just ugly buildings. 🙂 What a beautiful spring day!
Whoever decided to plant the cherry blossom trees along the Potomac was a genius. It’s like a pink oasis in the middle of a large metropolis. The week the trees bloom is always one of my favorite parts of the year. Thanks so much for visiting!!
Oh My. I thought you were in Japan 🙂 A long early morning cherry blossom walk would be a special way to start the day.
The trees were a gift from Japan to the US – so good eye! It was a beautiful morning. Thanks for visiting!
I was thinking of cherry blossoms when I saw Nancie’s photos and of the last time I saw them in DC. Thanks for bringing back some lovely memories. I wish I could see them again this year, even with the crowds. Now, maybe the temperature will get better? Thanks for sharing these beauties.
Oh, and sorry about your lens cap. Better that than your camera.
They really are special, aren’t they? I hope you get a chance to come next year! Thanks for visiting! (and yes, a lens cap is sooo much better than the camera!)
Ahhh these are absolutely gorgeous! Can’t wait to go see them for myself!
I hope you and your family have a lovely time walking through the cherry blossoms this weekend!
Gorgeous! Seeing the cherry blossoms in person is one of those things I’ve always wanted to do. Glad you got your lens cap back!
If you ever get the change to see the cherry blossoms in DC -you should come! I am also glad I got my lens cap back 🙂 Thank you so much for visiting!
These images are stunning! Worth the (almost) missing lens cap, I say.
Thank you Liz! Haha I suppose the lens cap would have been a small price to pay for a lovely morning with the blossoms. 🙂 The cap was only 2 weeks old though…..oh well! So glad you stopped by!
Aw. Awesome!
Hi Brittany! I am so glad you enjoyed the photos:)
So pretty. I cant wait for spring again
Thanks! I am so happy that Spring is finally here in Washington, DC!
Absolutely beautiful this time of year! I love that these are so full of life with petals fluttering and people everywhere!
Thank you. The Tidal Basin is so full of life during peak bloom. I think it would be almost impossible not to be happy and friendly when you are walking among such beautiful things!
The soft pink is so delicious to eyes. Lovely frames. Looks like a beautiful time of the year.
Agreed! The pink trees are all over the district right not – almost doesn’t even look real. Like something out of Willy Wonka 🙂 Thank you so much for stopping by
Absolutely stunning! I missed out on our blossoms this year. The weather wasn’t that cooperative and they didn’t seem to bloom in every part of the city like they usually do. It was nice to enjoy your beautiful photos.
Awe…so sad about your blossoms!! The weather has not been too kind to us this year has it? So glad you could live vicariously through our blossoms! Thanks for stopping by!
Wow, that first image is truly stunning…You should make that into a print and sell it
Mollyxxx
Awe, thanks Molly! It’s hard not to get stunning images when you are in such a stunning place 🙂
amazingly beautiful
The post I’ve been waiting for! These pictures are beautiful Erica! Thanks for sharing, you made my day!:)
Absolutely gorgeous photos – my daughter was there chaperoning a school group a couple weeks back when it was freezing – this would have been a better, perfect time to visit DC! So delighted that you shared with Home and Garden Thursday,
Kathy
